So, I’ve been working on my next Kickstarter Campaign, for Book Two, Lost Mage. A fresh pass of revisions that added over twenty thousand words. It’s amazing what a fresh pass does, with fresh eyes that haven’t been staring at a manuscript for weeks and weeks.  It reminds me of writing advice I read many years ago. I have no idea who said it because my takeaways are usually the cliff-notes bite-sized nuggets.. ie the important bits:) Anyway- the advice was: take your manuscript once it’s finished and stick it in a drawer for six months. THEN, take it out and edit it:)  I never understood that, way back in my rookie days. I get it now, though;)

There was so much detail that i was able to flesh out in Lost Mage. Some of it was elaborating on aspects that only got developed (world building) type things that evolved after I’d completed Lost Mage. Others, came about by circumstance. I have a nifty special edition cover for the book. So, I decided it needed to be worked into the story. What was this conjuring and where did it fit into the story. I could have just left it as.. it’s a cool magicky thing.. but nope.. that niggled at my sense of world building 😉  so- there was a bit of additional content to give that story. I came up with a short flashback to when Kadaris first conjured her wisp and how it came about– which also built in hints for future evolution of her magical tracking wisp:)

So, overall I am pretty happy with Lost Mage.

But, for the special edition, I also like to offer additional bonus content. In Winter Mage, I created character bios and some additional special content that was exclusive to the special edition. So, now I am trying to come up with some really interesting ideas to include in Lost Mage.

Right now, I’m thinking about

Character interviews: where readers can submit questions for their favorite characters. I might also toss in a couple of my own.. not the “what the hell were you thinking..” lol;)

but- what kinds of things would you ask a favorite character?

Another idea would be deleted scenes. But I’m not sure if I have any from Lost Mage, or if I did, they may have.. well.. already been.. deleted:(

An exclusive scene from another character POV- in this instance, what would you like to see? I was thinking something from Juroh’s perspective. Or maybe one of the monks at the temple? I could easily add a Kirrin point of view. Or maybe there’s someone else that would be interesting?

Another one that I think is a strong contender, is a side character short story. Now, we know how that has worked in the past for me– I have fourteen books because one character wanted a side story:) (btw- Jedda is relentlessly unapologetic about this:)

So- what other bonus content have you seen from authors that really got you excited? What would you want to read more about?
