My current journey through Lyme Disease

Living with chronic, long-standing Lyme disease and an active Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) flare can feel like fighting an uphill battle against your own biology. When your system is dealing with low cellular energy, intense post-dinner bloating, and a cold metabolic baseline sitting at 96.6°F, standard detox protocols often lead to severe crashes or a hard wall at bedtime.
This isn’t due to a lack of effort; it is the result of a multi-layered physiological bottleneck where deep tissue toxins are recirculating faster than your liver and slow-moving digestive tract can safely export them.
To permanently break this cycle, you cannot just aggressively attack the infections. You have to systematically rebuild your cell walls, open your drainage pathways, and catch the waste using a highly strategic hourly timeline.
Now, I’m going to back up a few steps to explain. I’ve had this for thirty years now. Yes, that long. More than half of my life. And through the years, I’ve done numerous protocols, from holistic and herbal, to massive doses of antibiotics while working with one of the top lyme specialists from Boston. Little did I understand then, the damage 18 months of non-stop heavy antibiotics were doing to my body.
Over the years, I developed food sensitivities that would build up slowly over time– making it hard to pinpoint a culprit— until I was so tired and unable to function that I had days when getting out of bed was a challenge. It turns out– I was allergic to rice. Yeah, I know… no one is allergic to rice.  But– turns out my body didn’t like it. and since I was trying to avoid wheat and gluten, I would wake up and have almond butter on a rice cake for breakfast. By late morning I was back in bed, exhausted. I only discovered this particular allergy (this was the first of many) by accident. I had run out of rice. No big deal. I had a few good days. I still didn’t make any connections. I got to the market. restocked the rice pot. Within the first few bites– I could literally feel it sapping me. i knew in that moment, i wanted-needed it out of my body,  and forced myself to throw it up. There have been other allergies/sensitvities that have also developed. My body doesn’t like most grains. No idea why. And i’ve mostly learned to navigate around the worst offenders.
Anyway- this is just to say- Ive done any number of protocols—  and essentially have the label “non-responder”…
So- I keep tabs on the latest research– nothing ground-breaking there. And I try to manage symptoms etc with herbs and supplements. Magnesium was a life-changer. Literally. It used to be that getting out of bed and putting my feet on the floor was painful. like walking on broken glass. After about a week of simple magnesium— it started to fade to something slightly annoying but decidedly tolerable.

I’ve done chaga — which I love. I’ve doe japanese knotweed. I’ve done the Zhang protocol, Ive done intuitive medicine. You name it, I’ve probably tried it.

Now- as miserable as part of this have been– and as much as I often mourn the life I might have had, otherwise… I’ve also done and learned an awful lot. From studying herbalism and bodywork (bowtech) to becoming a trained practicing (very retired) shaman.  So, on many different levels, I’ve discovered a deep understanding of the life I have.
Jump ahead to a few months ago. I came across– something.. that sounded useful. I can’t even remember what it was… because.. when the order came, i was looking at a bottle of WTF is this????
I had in my hand, a bottle of.. let me see if I can spell it… phosphatydlcholine? it’s almost as hard to type as it is to say.
I was about to send it back and get the thing I was interested in– when I decided to 1- check my oriiginal order and then 2– satisfy my curiosity. What is this stuff? And what does it do?
WELL– turns out this is some pretty good shit! And– very likely.. what I need.
What is it, you ask? Okay- for all of you non-chemists and nutritionists out there (myself included).. a primary building block for cell membranes in animals and plants.
Now- two steps backwards. As part of my body being overwhelmed with toxins.. my immune system is sluggish.. and my body temp is about 96.4. I’ve made numerous attempts to convince my naturopath that something is wrong. My thyroid (which has never ever been at the mid range of normal) suddenly starts coming back as– perfect. Except I have every single symptom of a low thyroid. Low body temp. dry skin. weight gain (no matter what I do), low energy.. pretty much tick all the boxes.   And yet, she looks at my bloodwork and says– we can look at your diet.
This is when I suck in my breath and say nothing. because this is the wall of frustration I have hit many times over the years when a practitioner reaches the limits of their expertise.
SO- back to the research board. I learned– that if you have extensive systemic inflammation, the cell walls get damaged. So, while you may have plenty of T3 and T4 (thyroid hormones) circulating in your bloodstream, NONE of it is getting into the cells. Well, that explained a lot.
SO- I wasn’t quite sure what to do with this information, so I sat on it.. and tried to get back to a slightly better diet, and do things that might minimize the systemic and inflammation– except that’s nigh impossible when you’ve got two external factors– literally lucking up the system. (EBV virus and Lyme spirochetes).
Back to muddling through–

Until I came across the phosphytadil choline.

OH- something that can repair those damaged cell membranes? sign me up. This was a very happy accident!
so, I started doing some MORE research about toxins etc. So, another problem I think I had with so many failed protocols– is that when the gut is compromised (reference back to that 18 months  of antibiotics that wouuld kill a rhino:) the body no longer removes toxins and they end up cycling back into the body, and the liver. The  liver gets overloaded and no longer burns fat– it stores it.
Well fkkk:)
Anyway- it took a bit of poking and digging and asking questions online–
butI finally put together a protocol that should address the underlying issues… and the thing is– it’s pretty simple and would benefit almost anyone (with the exception of the lyme protocol itself:)
It started with- activated charcoal in water, every night. because charcoal binds toxins and the molecule is too big to get sucked back through the lining of the intestine.
then in the morning, I started taking chlorella, which is a blue-green algae. Why? because it binds to heavy metals. Another detox pathway.
After a few weeks of that, my body was ready to start– slowly (and this will be a longer process) of attacking the lyme spirochete. A few drops of cat’s claw and crypto–something, in water, twice a day. (yes, there is scientific data that supports the efficacy of these herbs).
After a few weeks of that- starting the phosphytadil choline…
After several more weeks of this– we will add in something called lumbrokinase. I can’t tell you exactly what it is, except it is an enzyme- but it known for being able to break up the biofilm (that’s another topic) that the lyme spirochete creates to “hide” from the immune system.
Anyway- I wanted to keep some kind of chronicle of the process. Right  now I am at week 5?ish? I think.
here is  the clean version of the protocol and the reasoning behind each phase;)
Here is the exact, mathematically sound 3-phase biochemical strategy built to outsmart the historic 10-drop wall, thin out stagnant liver bile, and safely dismantle deep biofilm fortresses from the root level up.
The Biological Background: The Lyme, EBV, and 96.6°F Bottleneck
When dealing with a long-standing, chronic condition, your body isn’t suffering from a lack of effort; it is trapped in a multi-layered physiological bottleneck. Long-standing Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi) and a chronic Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) flare have spent years interacting with your system to create a specific metabolic logjam:
  1. The Biofilm Fortress Network: In chronic Lyme, the bacteria are no longer floating freely in your blood. They have burrowed deep into avascular tissues (joints, tendons, and the central nervous system) and woven dense, rubbery defensive shields called biofilms [url]. These fortresses are reinforced by your body’s own clotting proteins (fibrin), making them entirely invisible to standard antibiotics and basic immune cells [url]. Hiding inside are dormant “persister cells” and round-body forms that can sleep for years [url].
  2. The 96.6°F Metabolic Freeze: Your baseline body temperature sitting at 96.6°F is a direct diagnostic marker of tissue-level, cellular hypothyroidism [url]. Chronic inflammatory cytokines from Lyme and EBV act like physical acid on your cell membranes, damaging and warping your MCT8 and OATP transport proteins. Because these gates are warped, active T3 thyroid hormone is locked outside your cells [url]. Even if your blood work looks “normal,” your cellular furnaces are turned down to low, which paralyzes your stomach acid production, slows your intestinal muscle contractions (delayed gastric emptying), and shifts your liver into a sluggish, fat-storing state [url].
  3. The Enterohepatic Toxin Recycling Loop: Your liver works 24/7 to filter out Lyme endotoxins and viral waste, packing them into your bile to be excreted [url]. However, because your metabolism is running at 96.6°F, your intestinal movement is slow. The human body is naturally thrifty and contains aggressive transport pumps in the lower intestine designed to reabsorb up to 95% of your bile and send it right back to the liver [url]. In a slow system, this creates a toxic closed-loop highway [url]. The liver dumps the waste, the slow gut reabsorbs it, it recirculates in the blood (causing that heavy all-day “icky” feeling and brain fog), and lands back in the liver to re-congest the tissue [url].

Protocol Overview & The Strategy Behind the Timeline
To safely break this cycle without triggering a system crash or hitting your historic “10-drop wall,” we constructed a 6-to-9-month roadmap [url].
We do not start by aggressively killing the infections. Instead, we use your intermittent fasting windows (eating between 10:00 AM+ and finishing by 8:30 PM) to systematically rebuild your cell walls, open your drainage pathways, and catch the waste in a specific hourly cadence [url].
[ WEEKS 1-2 ] ──► Phase 1: Pre-Tox Foundation (Clear gut sludge & test binder speeds)
     │
[ WEEKS 3-6 ] ──► Phase 2: Start Herbs (1 drop climbing to 10-15 drops) + BodyBio PC
     │
[ WEEK 7+ ] ──► Phase 3: Add Morning Lumbrokinase (Crack biofilms with an active net)

Phase 1: The Pre-Tox Foundation (Weeks 1–2)
  • The Action: Opening the exhaust pipes before starting the engine [url]. You use morning Chlorella to bind heavy metals, and evening binders to break the toxic recycling loop [url].
  • The Adjustment: To completely eliminate your heavy post-dinner upper-stomach bloating, we moved your liquids away from your solid meals. You drink your expanding Slippery Elm and Flax slurry at 7:30 PM on an emptier stomach to form a protective “Band-Aid” directly on your raw gut wall [url]. Your heavy chicken and mushy vegetable dinner follows at 8:00 PM.
  • The Trap: Your 1 level teaspoon of Activated Charcoal enters at 10:30 PM—exactly 2 hours after food, ensuring it is hungry and empty [url]. It acts as a physical roadblock, permanently trapping the recirculating full-moon and liver toxins so they cannot reabsorb [url]. At Midnight, your capsule-form NatureBell Magnesium Oxide draws water into your colon overnight, guaranteeing that the dark, toxin-loaded charcoal is forcefully flushed out in your first morning bowel movement [url].
Phase 2: The Antimicrobial Net & Membrane Repair (Weeks 3–6)
  • The Action: Introducing practitioner-grade BodyBio PC and starting your micro-dose antimicrobial titration [url].
  • The PC Detergent: Taken with your 10:00 AM+ breakfast (using your practical potato chip chaser method), pure liposomal Phosphatidylcholine acts like liquid dish soap inside your liver [url]. It thins out thick, stagnant bile and builds the fatty delivery trucks needed to ship trapped fats out of your liver cells [url]. Over time, these phospholipids patch the holes in your cell walls, realigning your warped transport proteins so T3 thyroid hormone can finally get back inside to raise your temperature out of the 96s [url].
  • The Drops & The Drop-8 Freeze: You introduce Cat’s Claw and Cryptolepis together in a shared glass of water twice a day (morning and 7:31 PM) [url]. You scale up by 1 drop every 3 days. When you hit 8 drops twice daily, you execute a strict 5-to-7-day freeze [url]. This caps the cellular die-off wave, letting your nightly charcoal clean up the viral debris and preventing your system from crashing into your historic 10-drop wall [url].
Phase 3: Deep Biofilm Shredding & Eradication (Weeks 7–9+)
  • The Action: Actively dismantling the infection fortresses [url].
  • The Chisel: Once you are comfortably anchored at a stable net of 10 to 15 drops of your herbs without crashing, you introduce Lumbrokinase first thing in the morning on an empty stomach [url]. Because your breakfast isn’t until after 10:00 AM, the enzyme has an undisturbed 2-to-3-hour window to circulate in your blood, digesting the fibrin protein shields and cracking open the old biofilm networks [url].
  • The Ambush: As the escaping bacteria and persister cells bolt out of the dissolved biofilms, they are instantly met and destroyed by the heavy, 30-drop maximum herbal net already saturated in your blood, clearing the chronic infection at the root level [url].

The “Why” Behind Your Custom Strategy
  • Why Cat’s Claw + Cryptolepis in a shared glass? Cat’s Claw weakens the outer biofilm mesh, while Cryptolepis possesses the unique molecular power to flood those cracks and eradicate the deep, dormant persister cells hiding inside [url].
  • Why no daytime charcoal? Daytime charcoal would instantly bind to your expensive BodyBio PC and Chlorella, flushing your cell-wall-repairing nutrients straight down the toilet [url].
  • Why no Magnesium Threonate for the flush? Threonate passes through your gut wall straight into your brain. You require the NatureBell Oxide form because it stays inside your colon to pull in fluid, ensuring the dry charcoal never sits stagnant to cause toxic reabsorption [url].
  • Why the Full Moon Binder Pulse? Because Borrelia reproductive cycles and motility peak during the full moon, you don’t increase killing herbs (which causes a crash); you keep your 1 tsp charcoal at 10:30 PM but shake it into a large 12-to-14-ounce glass of warm water to expand your structural net and capture the surging endotoxins safely.
